Africans Need To Be Educated About Song Streaming Kelvyn Boy – Ghanaian Afrobeat singer, Kelvyn Boy has revealed that Africa, specifically Ghanaians need to be enlightened on how important streaming songs are to the Ghanaian music industry.

The ‘Down Flat’ hitmaker in an interview on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show with host, Rev. Erskine shared that Ghanaian musicians are loved by the people of Ghana but are not adapting to the contemporary methods of listening to music and rather prefer to download songs from websites and other traditional methods. “Our people need to be educated on how to stream songs; some people still want to download the songs from websites, store them on pen drives and CDs (compact disks),” he stated.

Kelvyn Boy made these assertions on the back of Apple Music’s recent rating of top ten songs in Ghana being Nigerian songs which implied that Nigerian songs are streamed more as compared to Ghanaian songs in Ghana.

He further added that the number of streams artistes have are what speaks for them regarding how good they are in the industry and addressed all music industry players to engage themselves in enlightening the public about music streaming. “Right now, its numbers that matter; It’s a numbers game. People are going to love you and talk about how amazing you are as an artiste but it’s the numbers that speak for you,” he explained.
