President Akufo-Addo Appoints Acting Special Prosecutor – Deputy Special Prosecutor, Ms. Jane Cynthia Naa Torshie Lamptey has been made acting Special Prosecutor until another is selected by President Akufo-Addo.
This follows the abdication of Mr. Martin Amidu, three years after his arrangement.
Responding to her new job, Chairman of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Dr. Steve Manteaw said “Mad. Cynthia Lamptey, Acting SP, I salute you. It’s a difficult task, we know, but we trust you to fulfill our aspirations.”
Mr Amidu surrendered on Monday, November 16, refering to various purposes behind his renunciation.
In his letter to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo prior to leaving office, the Citizen Vigilante put forth a supplication defense for his then associate, Cynthia Lamptey who is currently between time Special Prosecutor to be paid all remittances due her since her supposition of office.
His cases were that Ms. Lamptey had not been paid any payments since her arrangement, and there is the need to review that circumstance for her.
